10th Annual Clean Water Classic Surf Contest Set for May 13th-15th in Westport, WA

The 10th annual Clean Water Classic surfing competition has been scheduled for May 13, 14, and 15, 2011 and registration is now open for contestants and volunteers. This event, the largest continuously run Pro/Am competition in the Pacific Northwest, will take place in Westport, Washington.

The Clean Water Classic weekend includes not only great surfing, but also live music, movie showings, a vendor village, silent auction and raffle. The event is a fundraiser for the Pacific Northwest Chapters of the Surfrider Foundation. Surfrider is a grassroots environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the worlds oceans, waves and beaches. To learn more about the Surfrider Foundation or find a chapter in your area please visit www.surfrider.org.

This fun, family friendly event attracts thousands of spectators and competitors from all over the world!

As part of this year’s Clean Water they will be helping out the organization “A Warm Current.” A non-profit organization dedicated to reducing waste in our local communities and improving the lives of young people in coastal towns and villages throughout the world. It’s mission is to collect, transport, and distribute recycled and new wetsuits to areas of the world where economic limitations make costs extraordinary to the average local. So please bring any old (smaller sized) wetsuits to the event that you would be willing to donate to those in need. A Warm Current will also be running a kids camp on the Saturday.
