Background

In March 2010, the Washington State Legislature passed a new law on marine spatial planning. Under this law, the legislature requested an interagency team develop a report that summarizes and analyses information and provides recommendations related to advancing marine spatial planning in the state. The final report to the legislature is due December 15, 2010. The governor’s office chairs this interagency team, which is called the State Ocean Caucus, and Ecology staff coordinates the team. The State Ocean Caucus is asking for your input on the draft report before finalizing the report and recommendations to the legislature. More information on marine spatial planning, the new state law, and how to comment, please visit our website at: http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/sea/msp/getinvolved.html. The public comment period will close on October 5, 2010.
